First Speed Painting by Alendiel First Speed Painting by Alendiel
My first try.  It definitely needs some practice.  Should be in the scraps category but I'll keep it in the gallery in case anyone wants to offer helpful comments.  And as I keep practicing it will be nice to see my progression.

I used this tutorial: vesner.deviantart.com/art/Spee…

I think you should definitelly try again, but instead of drawing the same picture Vesner did (because come on, none of us is good enough yet to make it ideally the same, and this could only bring us down), you should find yourself a different landscape and just incorporate the techniques for it. And I'm sure you'll do much better then!

Also, try a bigger resolution so that your brush strokes are a little smaller, and play with hardness and opacity of your brushes. Now, off to make my own speedpaint :D

Much better than my first speedpainting.

Truly awful. :(

I think it's so cute!  And your shading and symmetry are really great!  Not awful at all :p  This is why we practice, right?  To make ourselves better.  Let's both keep at it and one day we will both be more than great :)

It could have been better though. :( Still, thanks :)

I assumed that "speedpaint" meant draw as fast as possible, and that's why it ended up as a head and not a full body. I'm not going to speedpaint again, I don't think, I'm going to take my time. Apparently though, a speedpaint can take as a long as you like. Some speedpaints have lasted 10 hours apparently. So it makes me wonder, what exactly is a speedpaint? How exactly DO you speedpaint? Are there rules and limits? I don't know...

Impressive work! The tutorial is really great. I used the same tutorial, you can see my first try here: luckylarry.deviantart.com/art/…

Wow, this is really impressive! This was a first try? Wow.

I'm no expert in scenery, but I'd like to try and help - the trees on the lefthand side are a little one dimensional. Adding a couple a bit further back would absolutely fix it right up.

Good luck in future speedpaints! You're going to be really good at them, I think.

I can't believe it was my first try either with the way it turned out, but that tutorial is just awesome.  Thank you so much for your critique and compliments!  It's very validating :) I think with encouragement from your response I'm going to repaint this scene a few times.  I will definitely take your advice!  I definitely agree with it.  Thanks again :D

Absolutely! It's probably my favourite tutorial of all time. And my pleasure for the critique - like I said, I'm no expert, but I know how much I appreciate it when people give me tips like that. I just hope it was helpful to you!
